EXPERIENCE
From 50+ Fortune 500 clients to a $1B software platform, every role involved building something that didn't exist
Alteryx
VP, UX, Customer Insights & Global Content
2022 - PRESENT
I joined through Alteryx's acquisition of Trifacta and was promoted twice in three years, first to Senior Director leading all of design and research, then to VP, a role built around me as the first person to hold it. Today I lead 80+ people across ten capabilities: product design, design systems, accessibility, localization, product copy, tech writing, and the customer signals function I built by unifying research, voice of customer, preview programs, and telemetry.
01
Took a flagship product's usability score from 8% to 54% in about a year.
02
Grew the organization from 53 to 72 people while holding regrettable attrition near 2.7%, through a year of significant restructuring.
03
Directed the AI experience strategy behind the company's generative assistant, including the trust framework and measurement instrument behind it.
04
Led the team that helped content design absorb roughly 5x its workload without adding headcount, while readability scores improved.
HOW I LEAD
Whole person.
Whole business.
Strengths-based.
Every person who reports to me has two standing conversations with me, and I keep them separate on purpose. Collapse them into one weekly meeting and status always wins, because status is urgent and growth never is. Ten years of running it this way is most of the reason the retention numbers above and below look the way they do.
Managing
WEEKLY, 30 MINUTES
How are things going? What do you need to keep moving?
Aligned to shared goals: status, approach triage, roadblocks, the political problem nobody wants to name. My job here is to solve things with them.
Coaching
MONTHLY, 60 MINUTES
How do you want to grow?
How can I help you get there?
Always a focused 1:1, aligned to what that person actually wants. Career goals, skills, the things they're stuck on. My job here is to ask and to listen.
Trifacta
Head of Design
2021 - 2022
I led end-to-end UX across product, marketing, and learning surfaces, including research operations built from scratch.
01
Co-led a retention research initiative that contributed to a 43% quarter-over-quarter increase in self-service revenue.
02
Established the company's first formal research ops practice, standardizing how insight got planned, gathered, and shared.
ZS
UX Lead through Senior Director
2013 - 2021
Eight years leading UX at ZS, growing the product design team from 5 people to 35 and ending with responsibility for UX across a $260M+ SaaS portfolio, 25+ cloud applications, and a global team of 55+. I also built the firm's first client advisory board from the ground up, creating a standing channel between the people buying our software and the people designing it.
01
Founded the ZSUI design system, which saved $1.1M in two years and earned external recognition.
02
Led the launch of the JAVELIN Sales Compensation Hub, the fastest-selling product in ZS history, now managing $2.5B+ in annual payouts across 90+ countries and used by 100% of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies.
03
Originated VERSO Field Insights, a new mobile product line built from our own research, delivering 15–30% impactable sales lift and a 17-point gain on the System Usability Scale.
04
Increased research volume 500% without adding researchers, by building a framework for which studies teams could run themselves and which needed dedicated experts.
Consulting
Sapient, Centralis and DePaul University
2006 - 2013
Seven years consulting across more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, working on flagship products and services across industries, platforms, and business models.
01
Designed the Blu-ray information architecture and interaction patterns for Warner Bros. The first title to carry that design was The Dark Knight, which went on to become the first Blu-ray release to sell more than a million units.
02
Led usability testing for the federally funded program that unified wayfinding across Chicago's three transit agencies, replacing competing signage from the El, Metra, and Pace with one system. That work is still the basis of transit wayfinding across the city.
03
Taught human-computer interaction as adjunct faculty at DePaul University, which is still the fastest way I know to find out whether you actually understand something.
